Types of Abortion
- Medication Abortion: This involves taking a combination of medications to induce a miscarriage. It’s often used in early pregnancies.

Abortion access is a top issue this election at both the state and federal levels. Several states will have measures to protect reproductive rights on their ballots this November. The judges aren’t done.
More broadly, though, state protections can only go so far.
Even if Florida voters were to protect abortion access, pregnant women in Texas would still have to fear dying of sepsis, or Alabama families might still have to pay much higher costs for fertility treatments. Americans want federal standards for reproductive rights, not a patchwork of state laws that leave people vulnerable.
ABC News, – October 18, 2024
Since the U.S. Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade in 2022, voters in a handful of states have turned to ballot measures to enshrine or expand reproductive access in the face of abortion bans.
Ten states in this election season will give their voters a chance to change their laws on the topic.
Arizona, Florida, Colorado, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska and Nevada all have measures that would amend their state constitutions with specific language to protect or recognize the right to an abortion for all constituents.
Montana this week joined a slew of states that will put abortion on the ballot for voters in November — a winning issue for Democrats in the post-Roe era.
The big picture: At least 11 states have green-lighted or are seeking to approve abortion-related ballot questions. Others — like Iowa, Pennsylvania and Maine — face significant hurdles that could prevent voters from weighing in on proposed measures in November.
