John Ratcliffe also said the spy agency needs focus above all on China.

John Ratcliffe will pledge to ensure the U.S. stays ahead of foreign adversaries on key emerging tech issues like AI and quantum computing, if confirmed to lead the Central Intelligence Agency.

“Our adversaries…understand that the nation who wins the race in the emerging technologies of today, will dominate the world of tomorrow,” Ratcliffe will say, according to a copy of his opening statement shared with POLITICO and later posted online. He pledged to make technology innovation a “priority” while at the agency.

The former U.S. congressperson served as the director of national intelligence in Trump’s first term, and is likely to have a smooth confirmation process this time around.
