Summary
The US onAir Network will be working with volunteers from Colorado universities, colleges, and nonprofit organizations to oversee the curation and moderation of posts, aircasts (online discussions), and in person events for the Colorado onAir Hub … related to federal, state, and local elections and government.
Our first outreach will be to University of Colorado Denver partly because of its proximity to the state capital. We have identified many of University of Colorado Denver’s civic engagement, academic, internship and research programs related to making democracy and civic responsibility a focus of higher learning on their campus … for students, faculty, staff, and local community. This post, over time, will have similar information on other collaborating organizations in the state.

About
The University of Colorado at Denver’s onAir chapter will initially focus on training interested undergrad and graduate students on how to curate Utah onAir content especially submitting Top News articles, events, videos, and information and moderating forums in each post they curate.
Student curators will also work with state senate and house committee chairs to produce aircasts on issues being discussed and bills being proposed in their committees.
During election season, students with other other organizations like the League of Women Voters, will coordinate and produce aircasted debates with candidates.
The University of Colorado at Denver onAir chapter will also help to establish other onAir chapters at public and private universities and colleges throughout the state.

Political Science Program

Undergraduate
Political Science is the study of how people come together to use collective power to pursue the common good.
We can’t escape the politics of our life, but we can choose to take an active or a passive role. If active, our politics may be informed and creative, or uninformed and habitual; we’re proponents of the former.
The University of Colorado Denver Political Science Department prepares our students for informed and creative activism by providing them an opportunity to develop analytical skills. Our programs incorporate historical, quantitative, experimental, ethnographic, psychological, and creative methodologies to sensitize students to the essential questions of politics and life.
Many of our graduates go on to lead in their communities as organizers, attorneys or public servants in regional, state or federal government.
Graduate
We offer a master of arts (MA) degree in political science with an emphasis on building academic and practical skills in key areas of the discipline.
Research and teaching in the department center on the major fields of American politics, comparative politics, international relations, political theory and public policy. However, the department also offers more specialized training in human rights, legal studies, gender politics, race and ethnic politics, European studies, indigenous politics, and urban politics.
You choose your program
Our MA students have the option of completing the traditional track on the CU Denver Auraria campus, our new 4 + 1 – dual BA/MA combination program, or an alternative track centered on the study of politics, public policy, leadership, and community organizing through our Center for New Directions program.
What happens next?
Our graduates have gone on to Ph.D. programs across the country and work in a variety of positions including state and local elected offices, government service, directors of community-based organizations and non-governmental organizations, legislative analysts, UN affiliates, lobbyists, teachers, media analysts and political consultants.

The place to be for all these opportunities at CU Denver is the Experiential Learning Center (ELC) in LynxConnect. We bring classroom learning together with real-life experiences and serve as the primary campus resource to coordinate every step along the way.
Working with students, professors, employers, and community partners, the ELC provides academic and not-for-credit internship opportunities, promotes undergraduate research experiences, and provides professional development opportunities.
