News
Laura Gillen, a former Hempstead town supervisor running in the Democratic primary to represent New York’s 4th Congressional District, slammed incumbent U.S. Rep. Anthony D’Esposito (R-Island Park) and warned voters that D’Esposito’s public stance on reproductive freedoms cannot be trusted.
Gillen said D’Esposito admitted he would back a national abortion ban while on the campaign trail in 2022, supported the overturn of Roe v. Wade and endorsed Donald Trump days after the Alabama Supreme Court in-vitro fertilization ruling.
She attacked D’Esposito’s track record, saying the legislator has accomplished close to nothing while in congress.

Congressman Anthony D’Esposito represents New York’s 4th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. The district, comprising the majority of the Town of Hempstead and the City of Long Beach on Long Island, is a culturally diverse suburban locale known for its miles of sandy beaches, thriving downtown business districts, and quaint communities.
Anthony D’Esposito is committed to delivering real results for the residents of NY-04. As a congressional freshman with experience in both local government and law enforcement, Anthony is uniquely qualified to tackle the major issues impacting Americans today while bringing a fresh set of ideas to Capitol Hill.
In Congress, Anthony serves on the House Committee on Homeland Security, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the House Committee on House Administration. In addition, Anthony serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Emergency Management and Technology.
Prior to being elected to Congress, Anthony served as a Councilman in the Town of Hempstead from 2016 to 2023, where he worked across party lines to deliver good municipal services to the nearly 800,000 residents of America’s largest township. During his time on the Town Council, Anthony passed several consecutive annual budgets that froze or outright cut residents’ town taxes. As a result of his fiscally conservative budgeting practices, Anthony presided over multiple Town of Hempstead credit rating upgrades while simultaneously delivering important tax relief for his neighbors.
Earlier in his career, Anthony fought crime on the streets of New York as an NYPD Detective for more than a decade — making over 600 arrests in connection with murders, shootings, assaults and illegal firearms. Anthony’s first responder experience also extends to the fire service, where he served as Chief of the Island Park Fire Department – notably leading the volunteer organization through the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.
In addition to his public service work, Anthony D’Esposito volunteers his time as both a member and leader of many civic, fraternal, and philanthropic organizations. Anthony is a proud graduate of Chaminade High School (’00) and earned a B.A. in English from Hofstra University (’04).
Congressman D’Esposito resides in his hometown of Island Park, New York.

INFLATION
Congressman D’Esposito has stood up to Joe Biden and the Democrats in Congress to hold the line on federal spending. After inflation reached a 40-year high because of the $6 trillion in new spending under the Biden Administration, Congressman D’Esposito has held Biden accountable to prevent the continuation of the Democrats’ failed economic policies. Before his election in 2022, Anthony D’Esposito cut or froze taxes in the last four budgets he passed as a member of the Hempstead Town Board.
PUBLIC SAFETY
Congressman D’Esposito is a retired NYPD Detective who made more than 600 arrests in connection with murders, shootings, assaults, bribery, and possession of illegal weapons. After making public safety the centerpiece of his campaign, Congressman D’Esposito was appointed to the House Homeland Security Committee and has been a champion for law enforcement in Congress. He has opposed liberal policies that make it more difficult for police officers to do their jobs and delivered millions of dollars in federal funding for Nassau County law enforcement and new equipment.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The world is safest when America is strongest. Congressman D’Esposito believes in Ronald Reagan’s adage of Peace through Strength, which begins by showing leadership on a global stage that puts America’s safety and security first. It also means that America’s military remains the world’s most elite and powerful fighting force. In the House of Representatives, Congressman D’Esposito has ensured that our brave men and women in uniform have the funding, equipment, and support they need if and when they must defend our freedom.
ENERGY INDEPENDENCE
Every American should have access to high-quality, affordable health care, including individuals with pre-existing conditions. Congressman D’Esposito believes in strengthening the employer-provided health insurance system and the social safety net and investing in our local hospital systems. Congressman D’Esposito has defended the Social Security and Medicare programs that seniors rely upon. He will continue working to ensure that federal healthcare policy empowers patients to make their own healthcare decisions, lowers the cost of prescription medications, and protects the most vulnerable. To protect our economy and our healthcare system, Congressman D’Esposito adamantly opposes a government takeover of our healthcare system—costing trillions of dollars and controlling Americans’ personal medical decisions.
HEALTHCARE
America is a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws, and Anthony D’Esposito spent his career proudly enforcing those laws. As a House Homeland Security Committee member, Congressman D’Esposito helped draft the Secure the Border Act, the most robust law ever proposed to combat illegal immigration. Congressman D’Esposito has also opposed New York City’s failed sanctuary and “Right to Shelter” policies that have fueled New York’s migrant crisis. By securing our borders, we will also help stop the drug trade, gang violence, and human trafficking from invading our communities. As a decorated law enforcement officer, Anthony D’Esposito understands first-hand the impact this can have on our community. He is working each day to end the Open Borders policies implemented by Joe Biden and Congressional Democrats.

EDUCATION
A high-quality education is the best way to guarantee our children’s success. That includes access to technology and the best teachers, a challenging curriculum, and, most importantly, parental involvement and local control. As a member of Congress and a Hempstead Town Councilman, Anthony D’Esposito has delivered millions of dollars in funding for local schools and libraries.
TAXES AND ECONOMY
Congressman D’Esposito is working to grow our economy and create opportunities for good paying, family-sustaining jobs in Nassau County, while easing the burden on families. As our voice in the House of Representatives, Congressman D’Esposito has led the fight against Governor Hochul’s $1 billion Congestion Pricing Tax that will cost commuters $4,000 each year just to travel to work. He also forced a House vote on his plan to restore the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction to provide real relief for Nassau County taxpayers. Prior to his election in 2022, Anthony D’Esposito cut or froze taxes in each of the last four budgets he passed as a member of the Hempstead Town Board.
ISRAEL
The United States and Israel share a special bond that must always be protected, and America must stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel to ensure the safe return of hostages and the destruction of Hamas following the horrific attack on October 7, 2023. As a Congressman and a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, Anthony D’Esposito has traveled to Israel multiple times and met with key Israeli officials to discuss strengthening military cooperation between the United States and Israel, including the continuation of foreign aid for security assistance and defense programs, to ensure the safety and security of Israel against the threat posed by Iran and its terrorist proxies.

Source: Wikipedia
New York’s 4th congressional district is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives in central and southern Nassau County, represented by Republican Anthony D’Esposito since 2023.
NY-04 is the second-wealthiest congressional district in New York, and among the wealthiest nationally.[4] As of 2023, this district, alongside California’s 22nd, is the most Democratic-leaning congressional district represented by a Republican, with a partisan lean of D+5.[3] It was also one of 18 districts that would have voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election had they existed in their current configuration while being won or held by a Republican in 2022.
